What Advanced First Aid Training Includes
This nationally recognised training covers the fundamental HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course and prepares you to manage high-risk and multiple-casualty incidents. Through hands-on advanced first aid classes, you’ll develop the ability to:
- Manage casualties with life-threatening conditions such as hypothermia, hyperthermia, shock, and severe allergic reactions.
- Treat spinal, head, and neck injuries with safe handling and immobilisation techniques.
- Control severe bleeding using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings.
- Provide CPR and operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Administer oxygen and monitor vital signs, using pulse oximeters, recognising abnormal breathing patterns, and ensuring safe handling of oxygen equipment.
- Triage and coordinate care in multi-casualty emergencies.
- Safely move or extricate casualties from high-risk environments.
- Communicate and hand over effectively to medical professionals.
- Completing workplace incident documentation with accurate and compliant detailing.
- Understand psychological impacts and recognise the signs of shock, anxiety, or distress in both casualties and bystanders.
By the end of this advanced first aid training, you’ll be ready to offer extensive help during emergencies and deliver stabilising care until paramedics or doctors arrive.
