The HLTAID012 (Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting) course is the standard requirement for childcare educators, teachers, and support staff. A digital copy will be available to download from your learner dashboard, usually within 24 hours.
This is dependent on participants successfully completing their online training. If not, the certificate will be delayed until this is done. Fridays and weekends may also affect the speed at which a certificate is issued.
If a hard copy of the certificate is required, this must be requested in advance. An additional $5 fee will apply. Please note that hard copies can take up to 30 business days to arrive (based on Australia Post).
It is recommended that this unit be renewed every 3 years in line with industry standards.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This unit of competency has no prerequisites in order to enrol and is suitable for those with no prior skills or knowledge in first aid.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This course requires that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.
ONLINE REQUIREMENTS
All participants are required to complete online pre-course learning before attending the practical session. To do so, you will need a desktop or mobile device with internet access.
All format options for this course incorporate pre-course online learning, including:
• EXPRESS PRACTICAL FORMAT – Comprehensive video-based online learning and theory assessment prior to attendance
• FACE-TO-FACE FORMAT – Short online learning to cover basics prior to attendance
Once booked, you will receive an email with details of your chosen assessment location and time. Simply complete the video-based online training on your chosen device at your convenience.
Remember:
1. Your online learning must be completed before attending your practical assessment.
2. All modules will become green when this is finished.
3. To ensure you are fully prepared and confident for the practical assessment, we recommend rewatching the assessable topics carefully just prior to attending.

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
• Perform CPR on an adult (including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
• Complete a first aid incident report form based on a simulated first aid scenario

• Manage a casualty with asthma
• Manage a choking casualty
• Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
